Postcards
The seventh and final Harry Potter postcard … and it has to be Platform 9 3/4. This is arguably the most important “sacred site” related to Harry Potter because it is an “actual site” (King’s Cross Station) from the story for fans to visit and not just a filming location. The trolley halfway through the wall is an iconic place to have a photo taken. According to the management of the Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 3/4, over a million people a year visit the shop each year. Even on “quiet days” at any given time there are dozens of people waiting to have their photo taken. At many of the Harry Potter sites I have visited, there have been just a few contents tourists, or the numbers cannot be gauged. But at Platform 9 3/4 we can see the full extent of the Harry Potter contents tourism phenomenon.
